DOCTORS

All patients registered with Manor House Surgery have a named accountable GP.

If you have a repeat prescription, the name of your accountable GP will be printed on the right hand page of the prescription.  If you are unsure who your allocated GP is, please ask at the Reception Desk.

At Manor House Surgery, the GPs and clinical team work closely together. You are able to see any Doctor at the practice, but we encourage continuity of care where possible. Due to external commitments and holidays your named GP may not always be available. Any urgent appointments may be with one of our senior nurses, our nurse practitioner or any of the Doctor's available.

Full details of our GP's are available via the link Doctors and staff.

HEALTH CARE TEAM

Manor House Surgery has 6 GP's, a nurse practitioner, a clinical pharmacist and a team of practice nurses and health care assistants.  As a training practice we also have trainee doctors and nurses and other clinical practitioners supporting your care, whilst also learning their profession. Our care is supported in the practice by a full administrative team, and in the community by health visitors, community nurses and midwives.  Full details of the health care teams are available on the doctors and staff link.

NEW PATIENTS

If you have recently joined the practice an appointment will be given with our health care assistant for an introductory consultation.  This is important to ensure we have background information essential to look after your health.

NEW BORNS

Recent arrivals will have a six week baby check, this will follow a check from the health visitor and will be normally with their own GP at the same time as Mum's post natal check.  Please ensure your red book is brought to this appointment. Subsequent routine checks and immunisations will be via our practice nurses.

History of the Practice

This practice was established over 85 years ago in the original Manor House, which stood on the corner of Beck Hill and Manor Street. Described as a "dignified Georgian residence with a pleasant walled garden", the practice founder Dr Arthur Whitehead both lived and held his surgery there. As the practice expanded, it moved to Wellington Road and, in 1955, Drs Webster, Wilson and Swanson constructed a modern
purpose-built surgery. In 1981, the new partnership of Drs Bayne, Ward, Watson and Farley extended the premises and, in 1990, they were joined by a fifth partner, Dr Alistair Robertson.  As the practice continued to grow a decision was taken to build a new surgery. The current property then called Thorn Villa, was purchased. Another Georgian residence, and derelict for many years, it was reconstructed by Bridlington builders, Hebdens, to a design by architect Peter Belt. Large extensions provide more spacious accommodation throughout, with good  access and a large car park for the convenience of our patients. The new surgery was renamed "Manor House Surgery" in recognition of our practice origins.
