From Monday 8th January 2018 the prescription phone line will CLOSE. We will no longer accept telephone requests for prescriptions. Please pick up a leaflet about how to order your prescription in future.
Please read the following letter from the Practice.
Dear Patient,
Closure of Prescription ordering by telephone as of Monday 8th January 2018
We will no longer accept telephone requests for repeat medication or prescriptions from Monday 8th January 2018. Please see repeat prescription section for ways to order your prescription.
Why are we doing this?
1. Patient safety - often telephone requests are unclear, and we find that many patients are unaware of the names of their medications. This means that we are at risk of making errors, which could have very serious consequences. Also, it is not possible to check afterwards what was said over the telephone.
2. Efficiency of the practice - our practice staff spend a lot of time on the telephone addressing queries that could be dealt with more effectively by the alternative processes. This means that our systems will run more smoothly, and that it improves the ability of patients to get through on our telephone lines when they have an urgent clinical need.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PROCESS HAS BEEN AGREED WITH AND SUPPORTED BY, OUR PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP, AND IS STANDARD PRACTICE IN MANY GP SURGERIES.
Yours faithfully
Dr Francis on behalf of the partners.
